STMA Rotary Club is pleased to announce that STMA juniors Ethan Daniel Nesbit and Makenzie Turpin have been named students of the month for October.

Ethan Nesbit
Ethan is the son of John (Dan) and Karen Nesbit of St. Michael.  He is a two-time football Iron Man and has had two first place conference finishes in junior varsity track.  A Life Scout and Advanced Open Water Diver, Ethan is pursuing both Eagle Scout and Dive Master.  His other activities include football, Madrigals, weightlifting, Storm Camp, church, youth group and choir.  He also is a senior patrol leader and troop at Florida Sea Base.  He plans to study either engineering or medical technologies in college.
Makenzie Turpin
Makenzie is the daughter of Kamie and Paul Turpin of Albertville.  She has two academic letters and is a member of National Honor Society and Student Council.  She is active in swimming and track and field.  She also is a Freshman mentor and will be managing the boys’ swim team this winter.  She is considering a career in biomedical engineering.

“Rotary is very proud to recognize Ethan and Makenzie as students of the month for October,” said Kevin Lenz, STMA Rotary Club president.  “Their commitment to academic excellence, athletics and community service represents Rotary’s core values.  We wish them successful futures.”

The STMA Rotary Club honors students of the month during each month of the school year.  The awards are given during the students’ junior year so they may include them on college applications and scholarship forms.  Rotary Students of the Month are selected by STMA’s home room teachers.  Rotary Students of the Month must demonstrate an interest in their community, have personal accomplishments or achievements, show respect to themselves and others, show a passion for “Service Above Self” and must be drug/alcohol free and cannot have committed a crime.
