Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration November 27

The STMA Rotary Club and Shop Saint Michael are pleased to announce St. Michael’s Inaugural Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 at St. Michael City Center, 11800 Town Center Drive NE, St. Michael.

Rotarians and friends recently decorated the new tree!
This festive event will include caroling by STMA High School’s Choir, holiday stories read by Friends of the Library and local Rotarians, and a special visit from Santa.  Free hot dogs, chili, cookies and cocoa will be served while supplies last. The event will include a toy and children’s book drive for the Hanover Area Food Shelf.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy or children’s book.

The tree will be lit by St. Michael’s very own “Holiday Cheermeister” who will be nominated by the community and selected by Shop Saint Michael and STMA Rotary. Nomination forms are available at Shop Saint Michael businesses, City Hall, and at  Nominations will be accepted through Oct. 31.

The Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration is sponsored by STMA Rotary and Shop St. Michael.  It is made possible through a grant from Rotary District 5950.  The tree, a Serbian Spruce, was donated by Shop Saint Michael and was planted by Schulte’s Greenhouse & Nursery of St. Michael.  The Rotary District 5950 grant funded the purchase of LED lights (blue, white and gold in honor of Rotary and STMA Schools), two public benches, a decorative trash receptacle, and electric service.

6:30 p.m. - Lighting Ceremony & Santa Arrival (outside St. Michael City Center)
6:45 p.m. - Food, beverages and story readings (inside Senior Center)
7:30 p.m. - St. Michael High School Chamber Choir Performance (inside Senior Center)
